1. With sustainability efforts by the fashion industry increasing, the focus is usually on sustainable materials and how to avoid polyester, one of the worst offenders of ocean pollution. A new approach to this is figuring out what happens to garments after they are thrown away. Some small micro-organisms love to eat plastic, but to make it more desirable for them to eat, companies such as Prima Loft are adding sugar to polyester to create a "yummy" flavor they'll love. - Read more on The New York Times 

2. Sephora is launching a program, the #SephoraSquad, to incubate its own influencers. They're looking to expand the diversity of voices for their social platforms and create authentic influencer content. Members of the Squad include makeup artist Erick Glam, Shalom Blac, and Ryan Potter. - Read more on Glossy

3. Church merch seems to be the new trend in streetwear. Churches such as Zoe Church, Fresh Life Church, and more notably, but not religiously affiliated, Kanye West's Sunday Service, have all created t-shirts and other branded merchandise with streetwear inspired designs. - Read more on Fashionista

4. Former Jet.com employees, Elizabeth Shaffer and Lizzy Brockhoff created Masse, an app and social network that allows users to share product recommendations among friends and people they know. The kicker is that Masse does not allow sponsored or any paid-for content or fake reviews, unlike your favorite social media site, Instagram. - Read more on Business of Fashion
